you can convert your spaces into tags. For example, if you have 5 consecutive spaces everywhere, use Regex Tagger to tell memoQ to replace 5 consecutive spaces with one tag.
However, memoQ normally shows tabs as tags by default. How come that tabs from original now turned into spaces in memoQ?

Hello,

I have just imported an SDL package into Memoq for translation, but something seems to be off. The import function seemed to work just fine, and the translation grid is automatically populated with the 100% segments. The problem is with the TM. I initially got a message that there was no TM associated with the project, which is odd because of the segments that were already populated. I attached an empty TM just to continue, however, it means that I don't see any segments that are less than a 100% match.

Can anyone offer any suggestions on this problem?

I am using Memoq version 7.8.165

Hello,

I have my custom Segmentation rules and a Filter, but when importing MemoQ 8.3 first processes Filter and only then SR, and I'd prefer it to be the other way around. I could not find this info in the documentation/on the web...

Am through a translation (over 8000 segments total) of which over 2000 (2111, to be precise) need NOT be translated. Have copied original and locked them all, but I NEED to skip these when reviewing. Any ideas?. I use the latest version of memoQ (8.3.4)

When the segments that you don't need to review are locked, you are skipping them automatically or not?

By default, MemoQ's QA does not include locked segments. There is an option for this before you start QA.

As for spellcheck, if you export to bilingual to run the spellcheck in Word, you get an option NOT to export locked segments. Word's native spellchecker is much better than spellcheck performed under MemoQ anyway.

This is what Kilgray have in their download page about 8.3: "Installs in 64-bit and 32-bit: When you install memoQ, you do not need to choose from 64-bit or 32-bit, because both versions are installed. By default, Windows will start in 64-bit. memoQ will automatically revert to the 32-bit version if the computer cannot run 64-bit programs."

If you have updated to 8.3, you should not bother about it. (This was probably the case in earlier versions.)

Is there a way to define the order in which TM matches are displayed - in addition to the percentage?
e.g. matches from Master TM before matches from Working TM; later entries before earlier ones.

Hi,

I'm having problems to create and add tags to target segments when they are not in the source segments. I'm working with IDML (InDesign) files. As per the style guide we need to use bold or italics when in English isn't required and I tried using the regular Bold and Italics functions in memoQ under the Format menu. The bolded or italicized letters show well in the translation grid but after exporting the file and opening it in InDesign all that format is lost (unless they were in the source originally and I copied them). Thanks to this I learned that in InDesign there's isn't a button for "bold" as you would find in Word but rather you need to choose a font and a certain weight (for instance, Museo Sans 100 is "regular" size and Museo Sans 500 or 700 is bold and this varies per font) so I think the problem has to do with this.

Any help with this will be greatly appreciated. I'm using memoQ 8.1.

I know the option is Register local, but there more to it than pressing that option.

Hi,

As mentioned in the title, I have some trouble when I want to export an alignment I created to a TM. I aligned the texts in LiveDocs, the alignment looks OK, but when I click on "export to a TM", there are no TMs in the selection field... I don't understand why, because I created a new TM for that purpose and I checked that all the parameters are correct (same languages, no "read-only" mode, etc.). Any idea where the problem comes from?

Hello Julie, when I first started using memoQ I would do this occasionally, but I soon came to realise that it's only useful if you want to use the TM in another CAT application. Is that the case for you?

Actually, I would like to do this because I have some old translations in my folders, they are "Word to Word" translations, I didn't use a CAT tool to do them, so the idea was to import the source and target Word files, to align them to obtain a bilingual file and then to export it to a brand new TM that I would be able to use for further translations.

Do you think it's a good idea? Is it a better way to do this? I know quite well the basic functions of MemoQ but I've never used the LiveDocs system before, so maybe I'm not doing it the right way...

Suppose you have external TM in TMX format.
MemoQ uses some native TM format (not TMX), so you should create new empty MemoQ TM with correct languages (in Resource console or in Project home page, Translation memory tab - press "Create new"). Then you should import your external TMX file into this new TM. Now you can connect this TM to your current project.
