I believe if you open Livedocs from Resource console prior to opening a project, it doesn't see any TMs. So if you want to write to a TM, open a project that has a corresponding TM attached.

Now I even got some hits from MyMemory plugin (TMs and termbases) even though I created a new project for this Word document and a new, empty TM. Just wonder where these hits come from. Very good hits, high quality hits, but I don't know where they come from... It says something about MateCat also in the TM windows.

If you have selected the homogeneity checkbox in the statistics window, these hits may reflect the inter-/intrafile repetitions.

Hello, I was wondering if anyone could help me with a strange problem. After uploading an RTD document to be translated yesterday, memoq has started acting strangely. Now every time I open a project in memoq, microsoft word opens automatically, with a dialogue box saying that Word is not the predefined program for viewing and editing documents (which of course it is). I have tried updating all of the file associations on Word, and I think that is all okay, but I still don't understand why Word is opening when I open memoq.

Does anyone have any ideas?

Thank you

Sorry for the bad topic description... here's my problem:

One of my clients provides documents which are partly written in Dutch, partly in English. The documents follow a template, but sometimes certain paragraphs are written in Dutch, the next time in English, etc.

I'm supposed to make two documents out of this, one 100% Dutch, one 100% English.

Just for the record, I don't have a TM for this client (yet), and help how to organize such a TM is appreciated.

I'm sure I could automate part of this process in MemoQ but I'm a little lost how to proceed...

Help identifying origin and getting rid of "altcontent" and "rpr id=(number) transform=close" tags

Does anyone have an idea of what "altcontent I'd = '(number)'" and "rpr id = (number) transform" = 'close'" tags are? I'm going crazy trying to get rid of them because they don't seem to have any effect in the document formatting.

The document (Word 2016) I'm working on was imported from a PDF and have several lines (its a form) created from shapes in word, I don't know if that matters. I have tried cleaning the document manually (normalizing font size and color, same style, no style, same spacing, normalizing font attributes (which are frecuently changed by OCRs) and I've even tried using tools designed for this, but nothing works.

I can't seem to find anything online about these particular tags.

Any help will be much appreciated.

Thanks.

Thank you for your help :)

Степан, огромное спасибо. Перерыл я МемоQ вдоль и поперек, но эта функция почему-то постоянно выпадала из поля зрения. Благодаря вам, я наконец-то решил эту проблему! Удачи вам!

Is there some way of identifying the different parts (other than looking at the language)? If so, file tagging with regular expressions would be a possibility.

There is a variety of sorting options, in the drop-down at the top right of the editing pane. "Last changed" is one of the options.

Post title: Normalizing and replacing images with placeholders

Hi,

I often come across these rather "annoying" tags. They seem to occur due to the conversion from PDF with no/barely visible effects on the document's appearance.

I have not had time to look into this properly, but so far have found out the following:

rpr = run properties, which affect the formatting in Word.
altcontent = alternative content displayed, if the actual content cannot be displayed to the user (e.g. images in a text-only viewing environment).

Most often, I remove these by normalizing character spacing, as you have already attempted. The key here is to always set "Normal", where possible. Plus replacing symbols and images with placeholders (and then reinserting them after exporting the translation).

Another solution I have seen work is moving all text (or individual paragraphs) into Notepad and then back again or into a new Word file. Or saving the file as an old .doc file. Obviously, this involves tidying up the formatting at a later date and would probably break form fields (pseudo-translation & export is helpful in estimating this).

Greetings,
Chris

The results are coming from an external TM via the MyMemory plugin.

You can view and disable these via Options -> TM plugins. Similarly, there are also Terminology plugins, which may provide you with additional results.

Post title: Check general regex functionality?

Hi,

Do you receive other QA-Regex results? May be worth double checking by switching from "forbidden regex match in target" to "target has forbidden regex match for source" and inserting a word from the source segment into "Source regex" and removing the correction rule. Then check, if you receive a Regex error. This is to make sure that the regex check is working.

Chris

Hi,

A single period (".") is not a valid shortcut key.

You can only use it in combination "Ctrl" or "Alt" afaik.

If the shortcut is valid, you will see something like "Ctrl+OemPeriod" entered in the shortcut field.

Greetings,
Chris

Hi Chris

Thanks. My problem was that I had not correctly understood the significance of the warning messages and how they control the regex processing. I have being doing some testing to figure out how they function, unfortunately the help documentation is rather terse.

I have been using memoQ on the free mode (program with restricted functions). Now I have purchased a license and wish to run the program as a licensed user, that is, the full featured program. Which steps I must follow ?

I would download the memoQ package again (not the Free one, but the full one) from Kilgray's website. The package to install is probably different...

on the memoQ web site, there is only one option to download the program memoQ Pro 8.3

I did not find separate downloads for the free version and the paid version.

Not sure if something changed with version 8 (I have a license since MemoQ 5), but with previous versions you had a 45+45 trial period after which the program would switch to the free version, or you could just update the license status to reflect your purchase.
