Hello

Earlier today I was able to log in to MemoQwebtrans, but now, when I try to log in, it appears to log in but then returns me to the login screen with the message "The user interface language you were using is no longer available. We are sorry!". I did not change any language settings in my browser that I'm aware of. Disabling VPN doesn't affect it. Does anyone have any idea how to solve this problem?

Thanks
Samuel

Review translation - import target text from pdf? | How I do that

Post title: How I do that

Hi,
As far as I know, any CAT software (MemoQ included) is of no use for such job. Your task is only to review and make necessary corrections in the target file, not to translate the source text again.

I understand that your client wants to receive a corrected PDF file - yes or no?

If yes, you need a software capable of editing PDF files like e.g. Adobe Acrobat or several others. For the beginning you can use its free-of-charge trial version (check the restrictions).

Now, open the source text in a simple PDF viewer (e.g. free Adobe Reader also known as Adobe Acrobat Reader, or several other programs). Use Adobe Acrobat to open the target file and edit the text. Put both programs side by side on your monitor display. Read the target and compare sentence by sentence with the source. Edit as necessary. As far as I remember, typing in Adobe Acrobat is slower than in MS Word or OO Writer (more conversion workload for the processor) but things might have changed since my last such job.

Once alignment is performed, you can review the target file.
Ask the client for idml-files if they made the layout with indesign. Works better.

Hi colleagues,
I have been trying to access a translation I have been asked to proofread on memoQ. However, every time I enter my user name and password, I get this sign:
The memoQ server is not available. Try again later.

I wrote to Sandra Paulini, of memoQ, but she is not available either... : (
Can anyone help, please?
Thanks in advance and stay safe,
Mónica

Ask the client, as they are responsible for providing the server. Some clients have their own servers while others use MemoQ's servers.

Sometimes the servers need maintenance. Did you get any notification about that in MemoQ?

Andrzej Mierzejewski - Well, actually it's an assignment for uni, and I don't need to correct the target text, just analyse the translation. I just thought it would be easier if I could somehow separate the sentences and see them one by one, with source and target texts side by side, and I thought it might be possible to use memoQ for that, as it automatically devides a text into segments.

The tip from laurgi helped me with that.

Thank you, both of you!

I was able to get in touch with Sandra Paulini, of memoQ, and, following her directions, could finally access the files without using the usual link.
Thanks again, Thomas!

Hello, Veronika, Elena

In my case, the IT department was blocking a specific port, the one used by memoQ. It could also be an anti-virus software blocking some ports.

Do some reading on what ports memoQ uses and find out if there's something blocking it in your computer.

Hope that works,

For anyone interested in the solutions to these problems please see below:

a) The reason the linguist was not able to type Japanese in the web version of memoQ was because she was using Safari. After downloading Google Chrome she was able to type in Japanese.

b) This is not a very elegant solution, but it prevents errors from occuring.

Furigana is part of a text called "ruby" text, which just means it goes on top of the main text. You should type it like this: MAIN TEXT ( FURIGANA )

Once you have typed it once, you can use the tags and entities feature and then copy this tag sequence for every instance of furigana.

Hello everybody,

I am experimenting with MemoQ MUSE feature. I trained one, exported it to ".mqm" file. It's a compressed file. So, I decompressed it. Now, I have 2 files:

wordstore.mmd and MemoQMuse.mmi.

The wordstore.mmd is bigger, and I think it contains the MUSE fragments. I want to check the quality of these fragments. Does anybody know how to open/read this file? Any idea what is the actual file type of this .mmd file?

Thanks

I am a new memoQ user. My current project consists of about 20 individual files. These files contain some identical sections. How do I open all of the files at once? I am the reviewer.

Select your 20 files with shift, then right click, then Create View, then Simply glue documents. That's it.

Your glued file will appear in the Views tab (next to the Documents tab). Both glued and individual files are synchronized, i.e. when you amend the glued view document, the same amendments are incorporated in your individual documents (no need to open them individually for that purpose).

Post title: Change not adopted in other segment

Thank you, Stepan. That worked. I now have all the files concatenated. However, I made a change to a segment that also appears in one of the other documents. After changing it, I pressed Ctrl+Enter. When I scroll down to the other place where that text appears, the change was not adopted. I do see the change in the Results window on the right in dark red.

Do you know if there is a setting or a special key combination I need to use to get it to replace the change automatically?

Thanks.

Go to 'Translation' tab > Translation settings > Auto-Propagation > Allow auto-propagation + Propagate only forward + Overwrite confirmed segments + Translator or either reviewer confirmed > Ok

Also check out the 'Automatic Lookup and Insertion' and 'Predictive Typing and Autopickup' sections or just remember them for the future. If you just started using memoQ, most probably this will be your next setting to adjust.

Also most probably you may want to skip the confirmed segments. To this effect, press Ctrl+Shift+G > select (1) Not confirmed in any role + Automatically jump after confirmation + Down. Then press Remember.

Termbase/QA report issue for repeated terms in same segment

MemoQ version 8.7.19

Dear colleagues, I hope you are all safe!

The termbase function in memoq displays a warning in the QA results if the corresponding translation of the termbase term is missing/inconsistent. However, if the term appears more than once in the source, the tool will be happy to see the translation only once and will not display a warning. I would like to know if there is a way of changing this setting, in such a way that the same number of terms in the source will be expected in the target.

Thank you in advance for your help!

How do I open an online MemoQ project on my old computer using the file project.mprx?

I have to switch from my new computer back to my old computer. The online project has already been opened on my new computer and saved onto an external harddrive, the same external harddrive I now have connected to my old computer. But I get an error message when browsing to the file project.mprx and try to open it.

This is the error message I get:

Unable to open document or project.
General error.
