Let's suppose you go from one computer to the other and viceversa several times, for instance in a longer project where you go from your laptop to your desktop, then to your laptop again, then to your desktop again, etc. In this situation, there is no need to delete the files already present in your project in the machine you are going to. You simply use the "Import with options" command.

After choosing the XLIFF files to be imported, the "Document import options" dialog box is shown. Here, you will see a list of files to be imported. For each of them, the Action column will show "Update ***filename***". The files get updated to the contents of the files you brought to that machine. When you are done in this machine, you export the XLIFF files again, and when you go to the other machine you will again see the "Update" action.

I've also gotten this message a few times.

TYPE: System.Reflection.TargetInvocationException
MESSAGE: Exception has been thrown by the target of an invocation.
SOURCE: mscorlib

If it helps others,
---when deleting the projectregistr.dat file in AppData folder did not work
---when deleting the TermExtract.xml file in the project folder did not work:

1) One time I solved it by opening WORD > Languages > Language preferences and setting English US as DEFAULT (the target language)

2) This time I was getting that error when trying to add a term to Term Base (Control Q)

How to solve it?
Press "Control E" to add the term and OK. It will tell you the language settings are wrong and it will ask you if you'd like for MemoQ to fix it. I said yes. Problem solved! No more error mesages.

I believe the newest memoQ version (6.8/2013R2) directly supports importing termbases from Multiterm .xml files -- they are listed as a supported format along with CSV, TSV, TMX, Excel and TBX in the "Import terminology" dialogue.

The new version will not work for complex MultiTerm termbases. As Kilgray often says, translators do not need complex termbases, it is for agencies and institutions only. Yes, qTerm

Hi,

the new memoQ will support XML files from trados, but to be sure ALL fields are visible in the import screen of memoQ you should:

- export MultiTerm in tab-delimited text
- eventually manually edit the text file if not all fields are displayed in the import screen of memoQ, or if too many garbage columns are present
- once in memoQ, carefully look at the fields and fîeld names in the import screen and tick when necessary.

Multiterm supports export into CSV format and memoQ supports import from SCV files. So, the easiest is the direct approach, that is you export the term base from the MT into a SCV file and then open memoQ/Project Home Page, select the project with the term base into which you want to import the terms? select the term base and use "Import Terminology" option. Select SCV for the file format to import from and choose the fields for the source and the targdet terms. I have done this severak times when migrating from SDL to memoQ. The only tricky point is selecting the right fields for import in the SCV files.

Thanks, Steven. I realize now that one can simply run the QA at any time to update the doc to relevant errors or warnings. Older ones, or those not applying anymore will eventually disappear.

Hi,
is it possible in the new 2013 memoQ to make the concordance display in the Occurences window comming from the TM? I only get concordances from TM after extracting my whole TM, which I don't want to do, I only extract my current translation document.

Thanks,
Mike

Ok, thanks, but how do I get a Multiterm .xml file from Multiterm? Multiterm appears to use the format .sdltb and I cannot find any export option in Multiterm or Trados to generate other file formats.

Hi Carina,

It is not a problem to export TM from Across to MemoQ. You just need to got to TM export and in Across and export it in TMX format.

If the problem is that you need to translate the same file in MemoQ, then you can try to export file from Across in a format that MemoQ can recognize. Then open it in MemoQ.

Regards,

Do you refer to Across segmenting by paragraph, whereas memoQ segments by sentence?

That's exactly the case. After importing into memoQ the TM of Across I have tested it with an already translated document and only a part of the segments was matched since the splitting in memoQ is different.
